To realize his vision"By 2035, become a university that excels in the field of science and technology and is able to actively participate at the national and international levels", Main Potential University (UPU) is collaborating again in the form of academic cooperation with the Sumatran Elephant Foundation (YAGASU) through the signing of an Extended Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday/ 15 June 2026 at the Yagasu Office in Medan

Representing UPU, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Education (FISK), Mr. Dr. Ashari P Swondo, S.Pd., M.Hum who was accompanied by Mrs. Dr. Dina Irmayanti, S.Pd., M.Hum. as a lecturer in the English Language Education Study Program (PBI)/Head of LaboratoryMicroteaching, Mrs. Nursyah Handayani, M.Hum as Head of the National and International Cooperation Section (LKNI), and Mr Rusdi Tanjung, M.Ds as Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design.

UPU representatives were welcomed directly by Mr. Bambang Suprayogi as CEO andExecutive DirectorYAGASU and Mr. Anton Syahputra Siregar, M.Si. as Program Director YAGASU and his staff.

Previously, Potential Main University had collaborated and signed an MoU in 2017. And had carried out a number of collaboration implementations, such as planting mangroves in the Sicanang Mangrove Ecotourism Area during the Commemoration of EARTH DAY which was followed by Community Service activities for lecturers and students through English Language Skills Training activities at the Natural School and Book Donations. And UPU has also invited YAGASU to attend the annual event with Alliance Francaise, namelyScience Festival/Science Festivalwith the theme Environmental Conservation. And at that time Yagasu came with an intern from France.

YAGASU CEO, Mr. Bambang welcomed this collaboration initiative and stated that this collaboration could immediately be implemented in real terms through a number of activities. He revealed that there are many opportunities to obtain international funding through a number of work programs in partnership with various parties. On this occasion, Mr. Bambang also shared his extraordinary enlightening and inspiring experiences while building YAGASU's networking with a number of partners abroad. "YAGASU is also pleased to become the Guarantor, for the implementation of the Cooperation program that meets the requirements," he concluded.

Ashari said that universities are required to implement the Tridharma of Higher Education, namely carrying out Teaching, Research and Community Service. "For this reason, we are ready to collaborate with Yagasu in cooperation programs such asEnvironmental Educationand becomeProject Partner. Especially in my Faculty, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Education, we have an English Language Education and International Relations Study Program which is ready to become a facilitator in natural school activities, and there are also many lecturers and students who are ready to becomevolunteerin activities such as environmental conservation and other activities," he said.
